01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

While Azabu Sabo is widely recognized as a traditional sweet parlor (kanmidokoro), its savoury menu offers plenty of substance. Options range from ankake yakisoba tossed with pork and lettuce to an oroshi teriyaki hamburger steak set served with clear soup and steamed rice, extending well beyond light cafe bites. On days when you crave something lighter, the menu includes a pork shabu-shabu oroshi set paired with 2 dipping sauces—ponzu and sesame—as well as chilled noodle options like hiyashi chuka with your choice of sesame dressing.

After a meal or during afternoon tea, the house selection of Japanese desserts takes center stage. The matcha anmitsu cream parfait is an indulgent creation layered with coarse sweet red bean paste, kanten jelly, warabi mochi, matcha ice cream, soft-serve ice cream, and assorted fruit. Other tempting choices include the cream sweet potato, where warm sweet potato meets cold soft-serve ice cream, finished with kuromitsu brown sugar syrup and kinako roasted soybean flour to highlight the contrast in temperature and sweetness. Selecting a set that combines a main course with your choice of dessert lets you comfortably enjoy both.

Situated on the 2st floor of atré Ueno, the restaurant offers counter seating alongside regular tables, making it convenient whether you are dining on your own or stopping by with friends and family. Directly connected to the station, it provides an easy, welcoming retreat whenever you want a hot meal followed by traditional sweets.
